I recently had the pleasure of taking my husbands car for its ITV in Denia and thought I could give some tips to others to make it a painless process!!

This was the 3rd car I had taken in 6 months so I felt that I knew the ropes.
Upon arriving at the testing station - next to San Carlos Hospital on the main dual carraige way into Denia (most of us ladies know it as the CASA road!!!)
When you turn in park your car in the queue on the right hand side -these are waiting for ITV!.

Then take your registration document and roadworthy certificate, (the smaller document with the registration card). Go to the office on the left and the girl there will take all the particulars and ask for payment - this differs depending on type but for a car between 50 and 70 euros. She will give you another form and armed with this and your documents you return to your car and follow the queue until it is your turn on the ramps!!

At this point an attendant will ask for the papers. You drive the car onto the ramps and you are asked to toot the horn, use the wipers, main lights, indicators , brake lights and  reversing lightsboth front and back.

Next you drop the front wheels into the brake testing unit, followed by the rear wheels. This test is computerized and all you have to do is break when asked.

Then you roll onto the next ramp which raises the car in the air. The attendant checks underneath the car and then asks your to move the stearing wheel to check steering joints.

After this you drive off the ramps and hopefully follow the attendant into the office on the left where you will be issued with your new sticker and have to sign the test document.

All in all it is quite painless and fairly effecient. I did plead the poor woman driver this time so the attendant drove the car onto each of the ramps for me!!!!
In addition to the tests above cars with excessive fumes are checked for emissions.
You have to make an appointment before taking the car - cannot just turn up as you want. The telepnone number for ITV is 902196196 and ask for Denia .
